So Trader Joe's has chai tea bags and umm wow. Get ready for some major tea.
If you have been to your local Trader Joe's, you might have strolled right by the bagged tea section. Maybe you are one to grab some Moroccan Mint Tea bags, or maybe you literally don't care so you just go to the sample station (pre-Covid-19).
Well if you are that person who just walks right by, I suggest that you slow your roll. This is a life C H A N G E R.

Reason #1: The Price is Totally Reasonable
You get 20 tea bags in each box which could last you a month if you spaced it out. Instead of paying upwards of $5 for an iced chai, you could pay $4.99 AND get more chai out of it. What could be better?
Reason #2: The Ratios are Perfection
Cinnamon is the first ingredient which immediately pleases me. The other spices make their cameos but nothing is overly spicy and the overall experience is very pleasurable. I talk about the flavors more in a second, so don't worry.
Reason #3: You Can Make it Your Own
One of the greatest aspects of tea bags is the ability to customize them to your liking. You can add some local honey (perhaps like the one we bought at Sand n' Straw, check out that review here ) or some delicious oat milk that makes it super creamy. You can adjust how potent the tea actually is by adjusting the steep time or do a cold steep for an iced tea. These bags deliver a truly tasty and versatile tea taste.
OK BUT THE CHAI
According to the back of the packaging, this tea bag has a mixture of (in order of most prevalent) cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom, chinese star anise, black pepper, and nutmeg. It also contains roasted chicory, which is a plant in the dandelion family that can be used as a coffee substitute. The final ingredient is vanilla bean, which is mediocre next to the chicory but, whatever.
These flavors work in perfect harmony when put into hot water. I personally love to use these tea bags to make a milk tea situation that is absolutely delectable.
NOTE: These tea bags do contain CAFFEINE (I believe there are 40mg per 4oz.).

IN CONCLUSION: Overall, I really love these tea bags and they often appear at our family teas. Below you will find an aesthetic and on-brand photo collection (in case you forgot how to make tea) that I hope inspires you to buy and make this tea for yourself.
Hugs and many scones,
Kayla
