Kayla's Favorite Chai

Hey guys! Hope you are all keeping life spicy and smooth. This is an opinion piece about my personal favorite and local chai.

Let's start with the location. The coffee shop's name is The King's Craft Coffee Co. and the location I frequent the most is in the city of Poway, San Diego. Inside, it has a modern farmhouse feel to it and is definitely cozy and inviting. There are these two large chairs that if you can grab one, you might not be able to get up. The people are nice and the coffee is delicious. I mean, what more could you ask for?

They also have an adorable outside set up that is super cute for the summer and works really well now with the pandemic.

Ok so now you get a feel for what the place feels like and looks like, but the CHAI. On the reg (aka "on the regular") I order a 12 oz. iced dirty chai with oat milk. I will also order regular iced chais if I'm not wanting coffee on occasion. I think that King's Craft uses a powder mix for their chai which in my opinion is better than a syrup and the overall flavor profile is warm and cinnamony. This also makes the chai creamy and full bodied. In the fall, it actually tastes like warmth in a cup and it seems to work for every season of the year. Even now during summer I find myself craving something spicy and sweet and this hits the spot everytime.

The consistency is thick and creamy, especially if you get it hot and with oat milk. But still, I just had a regular iced chai and it was just a thick and delicious. If you want to spice this chai up even more I would highly recommend adding a shot of espresso. This adds another layer of complexity to the drink and if you aren't into sweeter drinks, than this is a perfect solution. You still get the flavor of chai but also some roasted coffee flavor to balance it out.

The ratios. To me, the ratios in this chai are perfect. Cinnamon is definitely a forward flavor followed by other warm spices like nutmeg and maybe a little cardamom. This chai doesn't assault your palate with ginger or actual spice that makes it unpleasant.

Overall, it's just really good and you should probably try it for yourself. In my opinion, this is one of the best chais I've ever had. The business only has two locations and so they need your support during this pandemic. You can order in person, through the Joe app, or call in orders. Whatever way you do it, this place is amazing and I truly think everyone who can should try it! Hugs and scones,

Kayla from the Chai Everything team
